Why We Do What We Do

When like-hearted minds meet we plant seeds and when we work together we all get to enjoy the fruits of our garden. We all get to eat.

FIL AM CREATIVE was established in 2010 when Ed Mallilin, Rex Sampaga, and Walter Boholst met for coffee having been inspired after finding a need to create a space for the Filipino voice and eventually a vision of a film festival in Los Angeles.

PALMS UP ACADEMY was founded in 2018 on the belief that there can exist a consistent space for humanity lead by inclusivity through art. An artist’s gym accessible to everyone at the intersection.

SATELLITES were formed to empower the cultural pilots to materialize pop up events they want to contribute to the arts industries.

We believe in fair exchange.
Take space, make space.
You shine, I shine.
You rise, I rise.

From Palms Up Academy, our Satellites, and our Fil Am Creative Film Festival – through our artistic endeavors we practice wellness cultivating a safe space for creatives, partners, and our vendors. Each role at Fil Am Creative is equal, innately knowing that our value is not measured by what each person has on their plate, but how well we execute what we have on our plate – that is the true value.

Throughout history they have tried to bury us, our stories, our journeys neglecting to notice we were seeds. We will not be discounted. This is the village that maintains this garden. This is a village that feeds its people.
